This Mage Leveling Guide will tell you the best way to get most out of your Talent Trees for maximum leveling speed.
What is leveling actually about? At the core bottom of it, it comes down to your ability to kill lots of quest mobs very fast. This is what you will discover in just a moment.
First of all, what do the Talent Trees have to offer? Let’s take a close look.
Arcane – This Tree is controversial. Some find it very useful while others can’t see any benefit in choosing it. For our purposes it’s not the best choice to invest into this Tree.
Fire– High DPS, big numbers, burst damage on mostly one target. The Fire Tree is a viable option to level a Mage as you can kill single foes less than 8 seconds.
Frost – High survivability with a minor DPS boost. The Frost Build enables you to kill mobs AoE style because you can control them well with the Chill and Freeze effects. That’s a great way to level and that’s why this Mage leveling guide will focus on this tree.

Frost Mage Leveling Guide – How To Spend Your Points
The Order in which to spend your talent points:
· 5 Points in Improved Frostbolt
· 3 Points in Permafrost
Note: Why not take Frost Bite? In PvP it’s a great talent, but the point of a Frost Mage is killing mobs with AoE damage. Frost Bite makes it harder to keep all the pulled mobs on one spot.
· 3 Points in Ice Floes
· 1 Point in Icy Veins
· 3 Points in Improved Blizzard
· 3 Points in Ice Shards
· 3 Points in Piercing Ice
· 3 Points in Improved Cone of Cold
· 1 Point in Cold Snap
· 3 Points in Frost Channeling
· 3 Points in Shatter
· 1 Point in Ice Barrier
· 2 Points in Shattered Barrier
· 1 Point in Arctic Winds 1/5
· 2 Points in Fingers of Frost
· 2 Points in Cold as Ice
· 4 Point in Arctic Winds 5/5
· 5 Points in Chilled to the Bone

Now you already have every Talent you need for the rest of the game. Where’s the Water Elemental you ask? The Elemental is very useful indeed, but again: Our primary objective is to enhance your AoE potential with everything you’ve got.
The next steps depend on your personal preferences, if you want to stay in the Frost Tree, we suggest maxing the talents one by one.

How To Use The Frost Mage
By looking at the talent points and the order to spend them you should already see where this is going: Gather a lot of mobs, Freeze them together on one spot and AoE them until they drop dead.
Tip: Try to pull only mobs of your own level! Mobs that have higher levels than you will increase chances of a miss/resist and all of a sudden you can find yourself in melee range – GULP!
If you find this playing style difficult: Don’t worry. It takes a few tries to get used to it and you will probably die in early levels, but once you get accustomed to it, it’s fun to handle so many foes at once.
In case you don’t know how to use the talents/ skills to efficiently pull and finish of groups of foes, try the following:
Mount up with your Frost Barrier on and gather about 10 mobs. Now Frost Nova them all and blink away. Blizzard them two times in a row but aim the circle mostly between you and the mobs. If one of them actually reaches you, use Cone of Cold.
Survivors? If yes, Frost Nova them again and go for the third Blizzard.
Note: The Frost Mage is very powerful when it comes to killing mobs with AoE. With this build you can shatter any group of quest mobs in a matter of minutes.
Still, if you want to get the most out of your Frost Mage you will want to make sure to only do the most rewarding quests. Many unexperienced players waste hours of their time on junk-quests. Unless you know which quests bring the most reward you could be investing lots of hours with little return.
