Fire Mage Spec 2010

Lately, when I was browsing forums and blogs to find some good Mage builds I realized that there are lots of out-dated mage builds. The problem is – you don’t see that they are old when you first look at them. Unless you take a look at when the post was made. That’s why I want to make sure you get a Mage spec that is up-to-date: The Fire Mage Spec 2010.

I promise you it’s NOT pre-WotLK or even pre-BC content! ;)

The build focuses – like every good fire spec – on critical hits and high critical hit damage. If you want to change some talents so that the talent spec fits your unique playing style, keep in mind that this build is about the big numbers!

Alright, here’s the Fire Mage spec 2010 edition:

The build is primary a leveling build, meant to help your WoW mage to get from level 1-80 as fast as possible. It’s not a pure Fire Mage PvE Raid spec. I’m thinking about adding a Raid-build later though!

In case you are wondering which major glyphs are optimal to support the Fire Mage spec 2010, here are some recommendations:

Fireball – Increases the critical strike chance of Fireball by 5%, but removes the damage over time effect.

Fireball is one of your main spells. The DoT effect is diminishing compared to the higher crit chance. Remember, fire specs are always about critical hit chance and damage.

Scorch – Increases the damage of your Scorch spell by 20%

This major Glyph is okay. It’s not too great but good to fill your slot until you get the better glyphs.

Living Bomb – The periodic damage from your Living Bomb can now be critical strikes.

“…can now be critical strikes.” Does this ring a bell?

Molten Armor – Your Molten Armor spell grants an additional 20% of your spirit as critical strike rating.

Even more critical strike chance. Give it to me! Although the number will not be very high, every bit counts.

I hope you enjoyed my Fire Mage spec 2010 and can use it to level up your Mage alt (or maybe even your main).
